• High Total IgE means you have an allergy. However, it doesn’t specify what you may be allergic to.
• High Specific IgE means you have an allergy to the specific allergen that has been tested.

Sometimes, a specific IgE test may show a false positive, which means you are allergic to an allergen even when you are not.

Alternatively, the test may also show a false negative, which means you are not allergic to an allergen even when you are.
